AP Computer Science Test
Two days have passed or something since I took the AP computer science test.  In preparation for the exam, I do not think I was completely ready although it seemed like everyone had this same mentality as they were going in.  Because I started taking AP computer science starting after the first progress report of second semester, I thought I did relatively well by studying from the barrons and the litvins java review books.  Many of the multiple choice questions and free response questions were similar to the examples from the litvins book so if you need to do last minute cramming like I did, I think getting a hold of the litvins book early is a good idea.  Personally, I would take the litvins over the barrons because it is a shorter and more to the point review guide.  The litvins was easier to understand and used questions as examples directly following the concept.  If you understand the concepts that are taught in the class and didn't jump into the class like I did, I'm sure you are going to do fine on the exam with a score of at least a 4 or 5.  The free response was somewhat harder because you have to know pretty much exactly what they want you to do.  However, they were similar to some of the examples that were given in the review books so it is helpful to review the different sorting and loops to get your desired answer.  The marine biology case study question was similar to ones that we practiced with in class although you usually could get points even if you screw up on multiple section questions of a number.  Overall, I thought that the exam was not as bad as I had expected and seemed to be shorter since almost everyone got to the test on time.  Now for the multiple choice part, college board won't let me discuss but I have to say its good that you can guess at the very least because I think that will make or break your grade.  I would recommend reviewing the material around a week or two before the exam or you can be like some of my friends and study the morning of the exam and try to get a 3, but thats only recommended if you already took the AP computer science test in C++.
